Thomas Foust Music – Artists Who Want To Get Signed to a Record Deal

I believe that every artist has the potential to be greater than he or she is and to reach audiences far beyond their local zip code.

But what you’ll find, even when you do your own research, is that the biggest pitfall most artists fall in, is they think they know everything, know enough of “this” and are ready to get more of “that”.

What you have here is an artist on the Music Industry School mailing list who bombards me with an email alleging that I basically am not helping him achieve his goals.  His name is Thomas Foust.  He believes anyone with a computer these days can do what I’m claiming.

One of the policies of Music Industry School, is that I will not send you an email or point you to a blog post or a video lesson – for the hell of it. Sure it’s easy to do everything perfectly when you’re selling e-books for $37 but I have decided against selling E-books here.  I simply do not believe in releasing information if it is not useful in some way or another.  Which is why I have taken time to re-arrange the way our autoresponder series works.

How long have I been in the Music Industry?  Many people believe I have worked for a record label, but I would never do so — ever.

There is no 100% fail-proof absolute science of how to get rich or how to be a music superstar.  What you can get though, is a blueprint.  What you can get, is a strategy. What you can get is an understanding of a strategy / or a “proven strategy” that works and conform that in your own ideas to help you achieve the success you desire.   There is never going to be a one panty fits all; unless you consider spandex and not everyone deserves to wear spandex.  It’s gross and insulting.

There is never going to be a “quick and easy way” to be a top selling music artist.

So let me make this clear one more time.

• You need a domain name for yourself/your band – and it better be good.
• You need to secure your spot in Google / Yahoo / and MSN because if not

Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but eventually it will become amazingly easy for people like Thomas Faust to get disappointed when other companies, other people, take rankings for their own name.  Why does this matter?

When people look for the great musician Thomas, they might not find him.  Why?  Because maybe someone like Bill Faust’s website comes up, or maybe a page about Thomas Faust written by someone who strongly HATES Thomas Foust comes up.  And that won’t be good if Thomas is trying to promote his music.

So now, for the REST OF ETERNITY – everytime you go to google and search for this guy… you dont’ find Thomas Faust; you find what someone else writes about Thomas Faust.

It’s not fair.  But if you believe that you did not learn anything from Music Industry School; then it would not be fair to assume that you were not warned.

It all seems simple to Mr. Foust.  The words I write seem like he’s heard them before; and sure he says that “Anyone with a computer” can do what I’m claiming.  This could be true, but who cares?  What people CAN do and what people DO are two different things on two sides of the universe.  People can get famous by jumping off bridges, but that isn’t what people prefer to do.  People can get famous by saving a McDonalds value meal for 4 years and then claiming that the food must not be good for our health; but even though that is simple to do… it is far to absurd for most people to do.

We go about our lives so fast that we do not properly analyze the simplicity of things…because it gets mundane and over-rated.  The point of this broadcast is to let you know that there is a lot to learn in simplicity; in fact simplicity is usually the only thing that works.  It’s how we walk, it’s how we talk, yet we are encouraged to overcomplicate things.

Three things you should have by the end of the day (no matter what day you read this are)

1) A Domain Name
2) At least a blog / or basic website that advertises your band and upcoming events
3) A plan to produce at least one incredibly good song… And this might take longer than a day – but you need this.  This is what we call the ticket to entry.
